This is a great twist on the usual, but isn't the pistol a little short or is that the photo angle ? Napoleonics aren't my strongpoint

Many thanks gents much appreciated...looks like you'll be around my stall at euro brian....got a few more goodies to tempt you yet.
Lookin forward to meeting up with you again.

Edward the shako rouleau had a leather neck guard at the back, i've included a pic from google for you.

Glad you like it

Cheers

Stuart

Cheers Stuart I thought it was some sort of unofficial mod to keep his neck warm not an actual part of the shako

Very nice and full of character. Reminds me of your great old large scale full figure Hussar in the snow .
Looking forward to David`s Box Art.
What are the straps that leads into his left hand ?

Many thanks again..

Davie is painting him as an officer of the 5th regiment ie white pelisse and gold braid etc. He's not long to go..

Here is the inspiration for the bust, a lovely sculpt from M Numitome and painted by Danilo Cartacci. It is just one figure from a superb Diorama they did together

Cheers

Great sculpt as usual. A word on the shako, "the peak" on the back of the shako, was as Stuart said a neck guard that was intended to deflect sword blows.

Gentelmen, I have seen this figure and I think its a stunner, hope to see more of the paintjob tomorrow so will let you know.
Lovely piece Stu, just lovely.

Brian (smudger) I think you will love this one and its another for your bench. Dont be buying to much mate, remember its your round next.

Don

Many thanks for the great replies it helps a lot.

Don I knew you'd love this one and cant wait to see davies paint job.

Cheers

I was lucky enough to see this almost completed bust today and how lovely it is. Stu I think you will be delighted with it. I am just so impresed with the work that has gone into this freezing cold Hussar. I am sure he wishes he could have fled from Russia in the summer!!!

Wonderful work indeed.

Don
