Here is the latest figure that I'm working on. It's Pegaso's Saint-John Order Knight 54-152 that I'm painting as Guilaume de Villehardouin.

Painted in oils over acrylic.

Looking very good so far and you have painted the yellow (which is one of the hardest colours to get 'right') very well indeed.

Please post some more pics as you progress.

Great stuff!

Gary.

Il me semblait aussi que je reconnaissais la figurine!!!:D:rolleyes:

The yellow is looking really good. Maybe you should help everyone in here and elaborate on the process you did to shade the yellow. What were the colors you used to make your shadow and highlight?

So, you will be done by the end of the month. I'll expect nothing less!!!!:D

Great progress.
The color of the surcoat is very beautiful.
I'm looking forward to completion of your work.

Hi guys,

It’s been a while since I showed progress on this one, simply because it’s been stripped twice. Once because I made a mess of the heraldic and a second time when I didn’t like the yellow so hopefully things go right the third time around.

Here’s what I got after two coats of the Yellow. The first coat didn’t cover well and I couldn’t blend very well. Photos look better then the actual piece and I’ll have to make corrections again, mainly on the back.

Like Tony said, the faded yellow is great.
I wonder what you are using for shading the yellow. It looks that is going wrong again with black.
My suggestion is that you shade the yellow with a mix of your basecolor and violet.
As violet (magenta) is the complementary color of yellow you should shade with that.

Thank you all for your kind comments; hopefully I should finally get this one done soon. :D

Hi Megroot, I did use a mix of the base and violet but mine is a rather dark colour. Also the final shadow, which I only use in the deepest recess, has some Raw Umber mixed with the violet. This may explain why it looks Black.
I've tried to have the shadows in Brownish-Green tones as I didn't want then to go Orange and keep a desaturated look. It's also the first time I deal with Yellow on such a scale so every step is an experiment.

I've attached a picture of my pallet:
