John, spot on as usual. Very sympathetically painted, love all the tones of the colours used. You should do more of these...........

nice one

Hey John,

Really nice work! I love the blues, could you share what colors you used? Thanks and I look forward to seeing more from you.

All the best,

Joe

John, as usual, great stuff. I too want to know what mix you used for the blue. BTW is it acrylics?

Hi Guys,Thanks for the nice words.I will be glad to share my colour mix of the blue with you,it is an acrylic painted not used by many figure painters out there,as far as I am aware.Got to leave for work now :( but will give the the information to you tonight.Happy modelling.Kind regards John :)

Hi Guys,The paint that I have used on this figure and most of my figures is a matt finish acrylic called Polycolor by Maimeri of Italy it comes in 20ml tubes, 60ml tubes and also in 125ml and 500ml jars.I buy the 20ml tubes which will last ages for figure painting. They are a top quality pigment and dry nice and flat. With dark blues they tend to dry often with a sheen but I prefer a more matt finish so have used Maimeri navy blue for this figures clothing.I shadowed it with several darker shades made by adding black and by adding white several shades lighter to acheive the highlight tones. Pretty basic blends but the key to the soft blend is very thin glazes of color.I have been putting the paint in small plastic bottles with a good seal lid so the color wont dry out as easy, like when you have opened the tube several times and like me not cleaning the cap and you guest it, air gets in and paint turns hard. Also you can thin the paint down a bit which it needs for figure painting. Also another advantage of the plastic bottle is that you can make a range of your own colours which I have done. The range of colours is not as vast as Vallejo for example. There is about 70 colors in the range.I by them in New Zealand from the local artist supply shop. The Brush'n' Palette. I do recommed these paints. There artist oil color range are also of an extremley high quality and I have used them over the top of the polycolor in the past and man does that really make the color rich.Hope this information is helpful.Kind regards John

Very nice work! Sharp detail, everything seems to fit together perfectly tone-wise, shading/highlighting is subtle and looks not forced at all, and the different materials are reproduced very succesfully. You are clearly a very confident painter, besides an excellent one!
