Thanks Stephen. Your colors will be tried soon as I have ZERO luck with white and I want to try some new colors on my Elite Celt figure. When I get a chance, I'll try to show you what I did. Now, if you'll bear with me on another question. I find, that when painting whites, if I use my normal dilusion rate for water to paint that I use with regular highlights, the paint is much to transparent to be remotely effective. I end up with 10 times the normal highlights and have something that looks like 2 highlights. The question is, do you use the normal dilusion rate for white or do you use a slightly thicker paint for less transparency?

Thanks,
Jim Patrick

Jim , no problem.I'll bear with you as much as you want  . With regards to your question on dilution I have to be honest with you. For some time now I have quit counting the drops of water to paint that I use. Honestly , I'm not trying to run away from the question but the method I use is the following. I mix base colour and apply. To apply first highlights I take some of the base color and add to it whatever colour I need to add ( now I have 2 colours on the palette). I add water to the highlight colour by dipping my mixing brush in a well prepared with water beforehand. i just keep adding until I think the dilution is just right. If it's not I either add water or paint to adjust. One thing I do though is that my shadow colours are always more diluted than the highlights. I know that all of you know that with acrylics you work faster but the fact is that while you are actually painting you have to be more patient to see the results building up. This due to the thin layers of paint you're applying. with oils you see the immediate result ( or nearly ). Please show me what you're doing with whites maybe I can be of help.
