Dee has had some problems accessing kitpic and sent me the following email and request for help.

Having trouble with kitpic so Guy has been nice enough to post for me again.
This is the 120mm Verlinden Fusilier Officer
I have read so much about white and seen this topic on PF, it is difficult to paint.
But I think all things considered it turned out well, I am happy with it.
My next project is a Mameluke bust.
Enjoy...
Dee

Excellent work Dee. Your whites, blues and red came out beautifully. I look forward to your Mameluk bust.

Many of the older VL busts and 120mm figs are really nicely sculpted and cast.

Nice work on this one. The subtle white is good as is the blue.

Hi Dee,
Your officer of Fusiliers(... ?) de la Garde looks nice, perhaps a little glossy, but probably this impression is due to the lights of the photo. Anyway, white, blue and red are well painted. ;)
I think however that Verlinden has made a mistake (damn, also the producers! ). Looking at the hornets on the turnbacks and the pointed cuffs, your man should be an officer of Fusiliers Chasseurs, but he has the square lapels, instead having them pointed too.
Best regards
MdM

Guy, Roger, Jaime, Keith, Marcello,

Thanks for the comments. It is the lights in the photo that
creates the shine. I did dull coat it.. so its pretty matte.

Hi Marc, Christos, Patrick, Xenofon, Anthony,

I appreciate your comments. Everyone's comments really help
me to know that I am on the right track. I also appreciate
comments to improve the figure in any way also.
Thank you for the kind words.

Dee

Dee, from where I'm sat you're not doing too bad a job at all. From photos and photos alone it can be hard to point any particular direction to go in.
As already said, the blue looks a bit glossy, but that's just nitpicking and it could be the photography. Blue is the nightmare of all who use oils, and some struggle for years. Testor's Dullcote is good stuff and I can personally recommend that.
Your rendering of gold is better than mine. Also like the slightly diffierent colour of the waistcoat - makes the belt stand out really well.

Hi Anthony
Thanks for the comments.
Yes.. I think it is the photo.. the blue did come out with a bit of a shine.
I do use Testors Dullcote.. I do like that..
But thats the comments I need..
I really like doing the gold on these.. its turns out so beautiful.. and
I like the way it goes on.

I am headed on the right track then..
Thanks for the note.

Dee
