Hi Guys

This is the third attempt at this figure which was purchased some five or six years ago and been ripped and re-based .

This an attempt to show the sloppiness of the French cavalry re riding position compared with the bolt upright pose of the household cavalry ; something I have noticed in todays Garde Republic and no doubt existed in the Napoleonic era.
The slight modifications to give shall we say a bit of a nonchalant pose are slight ; a tilt of the riders head and the angle of which the sabre is being held .

The Plasticine on the base is just a bit of form work to retain the additional ground work .

Its a Metal Models 54mm albeit they tend to be a little larger than 54mm
I have lost a couple of bits in the strip down so replacement will be with odds and sods from the spares box and Historex

Nice figure... Metal Modeles always provide a sound base for such personal conversions. Not so sure
our Gallic chums will appreciate the ' sloppiness of the French cavalry ' remark - they would, I feel,
prefer the call it ' panache naturale de la Francaise '. Looking forward to seeing this one develop.....

Yea you are right re the remark but if you log in to Garde Republic and watch any of the vids you will get what I mean .
As a Napoleonic cavalry force they were top class but negligent in the care of there mounts

That's a nice adjustment Ronaldo. It certainly helps get away from the stiffness of the originals and looks more 'real' (That's not a criticism of MM figures which I love)
Look forward to seeing how it shapes up

J R Elting mentions the French cavalry's sloppy riding in his 'Swords Around the Throne' (I'm ploughing my way through it and came across this somewhere).
