This figure from Tommy's war, is now complete. I have tried to make a muddy, chalky soil. Don't know if it works.
I have also tried to convey some gas that is dispersing, by using the wife's toy stuffing, again not sure this works.
Pure joy to paint, lovely detail.
Regards
Bob

Nice job Bob. Like the uniform colour and the gasmask. I would try a bit of stretched out cotton wool for a more smoky look to the gas. Love what you've done though too.

Thanks Pedro and Jazz

Thank you for the remarks, I did contemplate that method but it looked too 'wooly'
I remember Max Longhurst using a similar method on a diorama, a smoking pistol, thought it might work. I might trim it back a bit.
Kind regards
Bob

Nice work Bob, you can't go far wrong with a Tommy's War figure, but you've certainly done it justice.
Best wishes, Gary.
PS To make cotton wool work, you have to use it very sparingly and tease it out into thin whisps.

Hi Marc
Thankyou for the comment, I had the wrong camera settings, set at tungston and not daylight.

Bob! .. Fantastic work, great colouring and shading. This is a very good job!

Although, if there is one aspect for future reference! it would be to extend the 'Groundwork', to the very edges ( and beyond) of the base, utilising/maximising the space available. (Bases are not cheap) .. so use your space.

He looks a 'Tad', lost on top of that base! it would also allow for some different additions such as a bit of barbed wire!

E.G.
Here is a random example of extended groundwork that over laps the base.

Bob, if you flick about in the 'Completed figure' section, you will note that 99% of those submissions have maxed out their base area! to create an extra visual. ;)(y)

Thanks for that info, had never thought of it and I take onboard what you say. I am embarking on another figure, this time in 75mm, so for this one I will try it.
Thanks again
