An excellent paint job indeed! I really like the face, the skin tones are very skillfully rendered. As for the photos, I wouldn't worry as they are large enough and good enough for us to get a good sense of the most important thing, your painting job.
Very good work.
I like this one. Awesome shield.
Pictures good be better, but it take's for myself along time before i good post a picture that was worth looking at.
Figure looks good overall. Nicely done chiaroscuro effect on the breastplate.
About the bronze though, I would suggest going for a brighter finish if you're aiming for a true-to-life result; this is a man of rank and his armour would reflect that (LOL unintentional pun).
First thing I'd suggest is to try to avoid shadows falling on the backdrop.
Aim for as much diffused light as possible. Diffused lighting generally makes paintwork look its best and more light = less noise/grain.
Do you have any image-editing software? There are a couple of free options if you don't have something already. In addition to rotating images you can do some simple colour corrections that improve photos a lot. This is particularly useful for taking colour casts away (e.g. here) if your camera doesn't adjust for white balance very well automatically.
Hi Einon like what you did with photo ,thanks for the advice. As for the helmet it is a lot brighter in the flesh. Thanks to everyone for your kind comments.
Joining the choir here but my favourite is the leather armour. Could you tell us a little bit more about how you reasoned when shading and wheatering it?
Hi Janne the leather work was painted in oils ,on a acrylic basecoat. The colour used was Vallejo ochre brown ,this acts as the highlight .I then painted fine dots and dashes starting with Warm Sepia ,Sepia Extra and Ivory Black.Hope this is of some use to you. David
