Prussian General of Hussars, one of Fredrick the Great's best, this is a 54mm flat of him in 1754 by Konrad Shultz. Painted in acrylics, I am trying to use non-metalic colors for gold and silver. I'm getting better, but I still have room for improvement. This was a fun flat to paint.

Very nicely painted Pete, I'm glad I'm not the only person painting flats with acrylics, there aren't many of us about.

One point, this isn't General von Ziethen but an Officer in parade dress of Prussian 2nd Hussar Regt "Von Ziethen".

Roger.

Hi Roger,
I used Valleo paints, and for gold, I painted the areas burnt umber, then highlighted with goldbrown, then added deep yellow to the goldbrown, and then added white to the goldbrown-yellow mix for the highest highlights. I base coated the silver with black, then mixed various shades of light grey using white with a touch of flat blue and black for the silver, and highest highlights in just white.

Thanks Megroot. He was fun to paint.

Stephen, like you said, paint, paint, paint and you should get better. I think you and I are both improving, especially on our flats! Thanks big Buddy!
