Bad news. Our german "hz-forum" was hacked today and it seems that everything is destroyed.

The work from many years is gone. No threads, no pictures, no links, no hinds. Conny (Konrad Schulte) from Fredericus-Rex, the owner of the forum tries at the moment to install a complete new forum or perhaps he can save some informations from our old forum, but it seems, that the database was hacked.

That’s bad news, :confused:good luck with the new forum and retrieval of data. Always good to religiously back up your database and structure every day and also if possible to set up an offline mirror copy of the forum on a test server, a lot of work initially but worth it in the long run when faced with problems like this.

Sorry to hear that Ulrich, that's a tragic loss. Let us or the staff know if there is anything we can do to help -

Our doors at planetFigure are open to hz-forum for refuge.

All the best and speedy recovery

Really sorry to hear this. HZ was one of my favourite sites and as a regular visitor to Bavaria I always liked to keep up to date on what was happening.
You've really got to despair when some s*d gets their rocks off with something like this.

Check with your ISP. They may (should) do routine backups and might be able to retrieve a copy of the site from within the past few days or week.

I`m really sorry to hearing such bad news...

I will never understand what`s the satisfaction behind such attacks...

I hope the guys behind the forum will bring it up again, soon.

My best wishes !!

Hi Friends,

as one of the side mods of the HZ-Forum I have to submit the following: The forum was destroyed by a group called "The Turkish Hacker".
They say from their selfs that they are in the cyber-war with the EU...

The had a short success and I hope that they really "enjoyed" it, because they destroyed the community-work of several years...

But they can be sure: The "HZ-Forum" isn`t dead !!!

We will be back again soon, Conny just did the first steps... !!!

The owner of german HZ-Forum, Conny Schulte, has on www.hz-forum.de informed, that the "old" Forum is completely destroyed and that he will make effords to create a new forum.

But good news: The first new things are running now!

Those Hackers, they call themselves "The Turkish Hackers" are probably a bigger clan of people, which already moves since longer times a track of devastation in the Internet. (Google it!).

It is a damn pitythat that the work of so many users about so many years now is lost.

Regards

Thats a real shame about all the lost data but good news that Conny is getting things up and running again, please do not hesitate to contact us if we can help in any way(y)

Cheers
Tommi

Dreadful news! I noticed I could not get on, but figured it was routine maintenance. Our best wishes to Conny for a restoration of the site!

Tried to log in, but the site did not recognize me. Let us know if we need to re-register.

There's a couple safety measures you can do for securing your forum:

1) Remove all traces of your software version from the bottom of each page (that way when hackers do a google search for a selection of message boards such as this so your site doesn't turn up on a list of forums for hackers to crack at.

2) Move the admin directory to a non standard location and htaccess it, if possible

3) Move the admin ID to something other than the 1 user

Our forum is back again http://www.hz-forum.eu.dd27036.kasserver.com/forum/index.php. But in a new look and empty. We had to fill it during the next weeks, so that it is so helpful as before

Ulrich

Und an Conny, danke, thank you so much, fuer Deine Muehen!

Prost!

What is it about human nature that derives satisfaction from Destruction rather than Construction, I really fail to see what this group have achieved from removing something that brings so much pleasure and positivity.
Glad to see that you bouncing back....and with some of the support and advice you have been given probably stronger than before.
Best wishes
Keith

It's the modern day equivalent of graffiti or toilet papering a house.. juveniles with idle hands and a 'because they can ' attitude sadly..
