For anyone interested in the life of the wounded and their carers from 'Battlefield to Blighty', 'Wounded' by Emily Mayhew is an excellent account: http://www.theguardian.com/science/grrlscientist/2014/apr/28/wounded-mayhew-book-review-wwi.

It's a shame to see the number of books in English about this war compared to the number of books in French, Anglo-Saxon really have a sense of memory. As for us the French, while every family, in every village in France, had someone killed in this war, our country has suffered the most on the western front, we prefer to write about World War II and forget the sacrifice of our ancestors.:mad:If there was not the centenary of this war, now that the last survivors left, it would fall in entire forgetfulness in France.
