Hi Planeteers!

In the next pictures we see six tanks. Five of them are fakes - only one was real!

I’d go for nr 5, although most of the others are really well done as pictures.
And there is a model of nr 6 (hope Martin doesn’t tell us there even was a prototype!)

"Sturer Emil" is right!

No. 1 is fake because it is a mixture of a Tiger I vehicle with a Panther tower. Replacing the towers against each other was technically impossible in many ways! A consequence of the German production diversity, always new vehicles with always new parts, instead of paying attention to standardization, as for example the Soviets.

No. 2 is fake because there was no panther tank with twin guns! The relatively narrow tower would not have allowed that at all. The only German vehicle with two gun barrels should have been the so-called "Rutscher" - but it was only available as a wooden model ...

No. 3 is fake because a Panzer III vehicle with a Tiger turret would have been completely overloaded and would hardly have been able to move! And the vehicle would probably have broken down into its individual parts when the 8.8 cm KwK was first shot down.

No. 4 is fake because a King Tiger, which was already quite big and could carry a lot, would probably have sunk into the earth under the weight of a "Maus" turret.

No. 5 is the real one - a so-called "Sturer Emil" with 12,8 cm gun!

Even its chassis (VK3001), if you look closely, is totally overloaded - the thing only managed a top speed of 25 km / h on the road.

There were only two vehicles (they were called "Max" and "Moritz"), both were used in the Stalingrad area in 1943. One ("Max") was shot down by Soviet tank defense in 1943 near Stalingrad ...

... the other ("Moritz") captured by the Soviets in January 1943 ...

... when he was given up due to lack of fuel.

Today it is in the Kubinka Museum ...:

No. 6 shows a Soviet spherical tank that did not get beyond the design stage. So also fake.

Cheers

And especially for Nap:

And these ones? Fake or real?

Martin,
Number 3 is definitely real - it's an M4A3E8 Sherman demolition tank (can't remember the precise designation for it), but it is featured in the Hunnicutt Sherman bible.
It was built as a prototype & tested at Aberdeen Proving Ground. Cromwell Models (remember them?) issued the turret as a 1/35 resin conversion for the Dragon M4A3E8 kits.
Cheers,
Chris

No 1 looks like a tiger turret on a Sherman
No 2 looks impossible to load as a crew
No 3 ..I will go with Chris
No 4 looks to top heavy but possible a US trial ?

Nap ...confused ..now !

When you are asked, you answer directly, with absolute belief : Oh Yes it's a SDkFzh123BrandburgersKartoffelnFarther
