I live not far from Gettysburg and our older son graduated from Gettysburg College so I have been fortunate enough to have visited the battlefield numerous times (yes I believe it's haunted).

Our younger son gave me this book for Christmas. It's a pretty standard day by day description of the battle. What sets it apart from other books about the battle however is that instead of old b&w pics it uses miniatures and dioramas to illustrate the battle and as such, for someone with an interest both in the ACW and miniatures, makes it a fascinating, fun read. It's available from Amazon if you're interested.

(No this isn't the diorama on display at the Gettysburg Military Park Museum).

I once spent two days wandering around the battleground of Gettysburg - It's a place supercharged
with atmosphere. Cemetery Hill, The Devil's Den, the Angle of the stone wall....you can almost still
hear the noise and smell the smoke. You can't help but feel totally and closely connected with what
happened there over those three tumultuous days. The town itself with the original buildings bearing
a little plaque as well as bullet scars also emanates the same vibes. Wonderful place.

Am visiting this autumn and really looking forward to it.

Same here. A work assignment had me building a truck scale near Gettysburg. I rewarded myself with a whole day and until dark wandering that battlefield. Really something I'll never forget.
