Carlos, many thanks! Glad you like him.

Dave, thanks a lot!

Hi Steve, yeah, it's a nice figure. The face particularly is a great sculpt. All the personal kit also is very realistically done. I think the one flaw it has are its over-chuncky arms. In their original shape, this guy looks like the hulk! I thinned them considerably by scraping away the resin with a rounded knife blade all around the arms. I think I removed about 2mm or 3 mm of the arm diameter! Overall, this figure was a pleasure to paint!

Cheers guys,
Adrian

Thanks very much Ventress!

Added the insignia today. Here's a small SBS on how this can be done using lead foil and decals:

1. Find the right decal set, and apply them to a glossy bit of lead foil. I used foil that was painted gloss white on one side. After drying, apply one or two coats of Vallejo matt varnish and cut the whole thing out of the lead sheet carefully. For curved bits this is tricky. Try to find a template. I used the handle of my tweezers, which happened to have the right curvature.

2. Now the insignia has been cut out, it shows the glossy lead edges. First I carefully flattened the whole thing by pressing it with a smooth flat metal sheet and the pressure of my thumb. This levels the slightly raised edges resulting from cutting the lead with a scalpel.

3. Then carefully paint the edges with black, or dark grey, or some other suitable colour. At this stage it is also easy to apply some highlighting and shading to the decal.

4. Apply to the figure with a tiny blob of epoxy glue. Don't mind about the insignia following the drapery, only about its position and orientation.

5. When the glue is dry, carefully press the insignia to the figure, following the drapery. I do this with my (rubber-gloved) finger, or the round end of a brush. At this point the reason for the lead comes into play: You can manipulate its shape without stresses building up.

6. As a last step, I will apply some weathering to the insignia and they are done. Not hard, just a little fiddly!

Cheers,
Adrian
