Hello Planetfigure!

I'd like to present the painting of semi-flat figure " Girl powdering neck" after Kitagawa Utamaro
(produced by Alexandros Models)

" Her curves are like slopes of Fuji mountain"- these words from original print inspired me to make a little painting on the background.

Not only is the background and figure painting great but your mount and frame are spot on,one often sees flats where the frame doesn't add to the figure .That care and thought has paid dividends, well done.

Fantastically artistic Anya! The background is awesome, but what I really want to point out is that in such a simple piece you created a story that is immediately perceptible for the viewer!

Congratulations! (y) :) :hilarious:

Anya,

A really beautiful piece of work , love the way you have presented it in the frame really works well ...the mirror reflection is very finely done and oh so Japanese as often seen in the woodcuts from this period.

Nice one

Absolutely beautiful. The background adds so much to the finished piece, painted to enhance the 'story'.
And yet something like this would be excluded fro Euro Militaire because of the background

It could be I'm reading this wrong....hope so because backgounds like this add so much to those flats and bas relief figures that are single face engraved / sculpted.

PAINTED SINGLE FLAT FIGURE - for a painted traditional flat figure (‘zinnfigur’) of any scale, cast in metal alloy from a master engraved in slate.
Class 20 PAINTED SINGLE BAS RELIEF FIGURE - for a figure derived from an engraved mould or sculptured master and cast in any material.
  • Both 19 and 20 are for a single engraved and cast figure, with or without a mount, presented on an unadorned base, in a frame or mounted on a plain backdrop. These classes exclude multiple figures on a common casting.

Looks from that you're right Del which I agree is a bit bizarre as the background as you say makes this and I'm sure other figures really come to life

A marvelously fine piece of work! The background, along with the simple mat and frame really enhance and provide focus to the girl.
