This is a question out of genuine curiosity, not a critique of the piece at all. I'm no expert in Napoleonics but I'm interested in swords from different periods. I notice the sabre has a straight rather than curved cavalry style blade. Was that standard for the Brits at that time? Was there variation I different patterns of cavalry sabre blades (curved, straight etc) during this period?
 
While no expert on swords myself, this straight edged blade was the standard issue for the North British Royal Dragoons ( Scot’s Greys). I don’t know if other British dragoon regiments were issued the same weapon. Maybe it was a thing amongst the British Heavy Cavalry regiments?
