A Fixture
Hey all, I thought this might be of interest. A new company called Red Republic Games is starting up a pseudo-historical miniature game based around gladiators called Arena Rex. They are currently running a kickstarter for their game, so it's a great chance to get involved. For those who don't know, Kickstarter is a crowd funding site. A person or company describes their project, sets a funding goal, and offers rewards (the product and bonus extras). Then the public can decide if they want to help them make it a reality. In return for providing funding up front, the public usually gets the product at a reduced price and/or bonus extras.
Arena Rex is a skirmish miniature game (meaning each side has a small number of figures as opposed to huge armies). The setting is a mix of ancient history and mythology with factions based around Rome, Egypt, Celts and Gauls, and Vikings and Native Americans. The concept art looks really interesting and the sculpts they've shown are amazing. The actual figures will be cast in resin so it should retain as much of the detail as possible. The project has already met its funding goal so now the more money they raise the more extras become available. Even if you're not interested in the game, the miniatures will be great and definitely worth painting.
The kickstarter runs up until April 21st, so take a look if you are interested. Here's the link:
