Very nice progress - with that nose and chin / profile .... Ralph Fiennes ?
At last!
I gave some subtile hints, like 'Refienning' and ofcourse the 'l i s t '
it's Ralph indeed and he is a hard one, but pleasant to sculpt.
In '93 he was 31, gained a lot of kilo's for his role of Amon in Schindlers' list. This weight was also to be seen in his face, but also subtile.
On a lot of photos he is smiling, this dramaticly alters his face, I plan to give him a thin smirk and arrogant face.
I fixated his eyes already by baking and this distance was already dertermined, yesterday I noticed I had applied too much clay so Ralph looked out of shape.
Couldn't see it at first but grabbed the königs head and had better measurements.
The hair is optional, I also did this for measurement and to get the Amonfeel....
I found a good medium, creall therm. soft thermo clay that's easily polished between jobs with fingertips or brushes.
I still need to get used to the somewhat softer stuff.
I am thinking of the scene with the mirror, or without it but it's a very dramatic pose when he 'pardons you' with his right hand lifted.
He is also doing some stretching with a rifle ( not a K98 ), in this posture it would be a waste not to depict him fully figured.
Chances are I will paint him in greytones and put some ultra red playingcards in his hand.

that was ralph fiennes.i never recognized him.will be interested to see how it will look at end.
well one sees in any case the look of Goeth in your sculpt you helped but at least the head looks very true like the actor.

it's only the beginning Markus.
When proportions are right and you have an overall good feel you start examining the different sections and look for the best combination.
that means, without being aware I have the same mimics on my face when applying them
recently I also use reflection of my monitor to find out what's wrong.
Amon gained some weight in the movie, how is this translated on his face?
Are there more 'soft' sections compared to his more up to date pictures?
I still like making fantasy figures better but now and then for me it's good to have a little study.

went for another try.
I missed some particular dephts, especially the chin section.
Things that don't occur that much when drawing a person instead of sculpting.
Though, hard to notice from just pics on the internet.

It's quite ironic, factually.
Promised myself not to head for long time endurance projects like Harris' bust some time ago.
Non-intented a lot of time is spent on research again.
Working for long hours on a head is not satisfactory where just 5 minutes altering can do more good.
Painfully I need to tear down the Damien Lewis, Robert Kennedy, Ben Kingsley that sometimes appear in my sculpt....
The amount of common pictures can be dazzling, decided to use this database:

I think this last version has more of the right look for Goeth. I find it helpful with likenesses to start with the basic shape of the head fully forming the skull and neck and overal shape of the face gefore starting features. You know you're there when the likeness can be seen even without fully formed features. Looking at the profile, the nose looks a bit too pronounced. Perhaps put your sculpt pics next to pics of the actor in the same view to see the differences. I think the jawline needs more development. Perhaps the ears are a bit too far back on the head? The start of the ear is usually about 1/2 from the brow ridge and back of the cranium.
Keep up the great work? Is this super sculpey?
