Going for a change..

I've been painting figures and bust now, pretty much exclusively, for what, the last three years.
And I'm enjoying it, but I'm stuck. I cant seem to get past the "that's nice" level. I'm stuck on a "that's ok" level, and I know why.
My eyes, and my brain, just dont work with the painted highlights and shadows, that make our subjects pop.

This was brought home to me when I looked at some of my old models, like the one below.
I enjoy building and creating rubble, mud, and snow. And I'm good at it. Better than skint ones, or highlighting folds of fabric..

Hi Henk, I doubt anyone on here, is completely satisfied with the end results, we all just try to get a bit better with the next figure, its all part of the fun...
Looking at your work on the base.. It is excellent, well above what I could achieve..
Just keep doing what your doing, and enjoy

Why not combine the two? Painting figures for dioramas is a bit different to painting single figures that are going to be scrutinised in detail from every angle. So why not create a wonderful building/scene like you have above but add one or two figures to tell a story?
