Has any body painted the Gothic Knight by Andrea?
I painted this mounted knight and found it to be a pretty nice kit,but a bit on the heavy side.

Roc,

I haven't painted it..I thought about it but that's about all. But I did read recently somewhere on the internet or in a magazine that it's a bear to work on because it weighs close to 5 pounds. I think they might've been exagerating a bit but don't know for sure.

This is a picture of the Gothic knight that I painted and displayed at the MFCA a few years ago.
Being that the kit is metal, I also used the buffing technique on the horse armour and the knight,I did not use a sealer because I wanted the armour to tarnish a little so as to give it a more realistic look.
Albeit the poor quality of the photo, please feel free to critique.

Beautiful work Rocco............I love the way the armor turned out. Could you describe more what you did?

Hey Guy,
1 - burnished the metal using a soft sweade brush.
2- used steel wool in tiny circular motions on the entire armor.
3- Cleaned with ivory dish washing detergent and an old tooth brush, you must
rinsed well with warm water.
4- I gave it a contolled wash of Ivory black,it usually needs several applications.
5 - I high lighted the extremeties by simply burnishing with the end of a knitting
needle.
6- If you want the armor to tarnish a little to add realism simply do not use a
sealer.
7- I gave the botom half of the horse armor a light wash of raw umber to give
it a weathered look.
8- When completely dry use a ooo brush with pure ivory black to add more
depth to shadows.

Hope this helps and thanks for the kind words guys. (y)

Great technique on the metal. I made the mistake onceof painting the metal - why I don't know, sinceit's alreadymetal! - I usually seal it but have never been quite happy with the result, I'll have to leave it unsealed as you describe, I think based on your photos it does giveit a more realistic weathered look. Great job.
