Not to keen on translucent modelling materials to put it mildly.[did not like straight super sculpy because of this]

I don't want to give the wrong impression, it's not nearly so bad as with SuperSculpey.

I had a look on the HD and I don't have many pics on this computer of sculpts in the putty, but this one should give the right idea:

These are 1/30 and even with the sidelighting the ears aren't transparent enough to make the detail in them hard to see.

Mixing in pigment seems like it could become a real chore too.

Think of the saving over having to mix two putties and then blend them Plus it's so much easier to mix than Milliput to begin with; already ahead of the game there.

If it is still too transluscent for you using graphite powder for example you only need a dusting to make the putty almost charcoal grey; so you could just dip the part-blended ball of putty in some and finish blending.

well it doesn't not seem to have affected your abilities.
Anyhow it always good to increase ones choice of materials and pick the correct one [or blend] for the job in hand.

I am sure many people must think miniaturists are quite mad...I know i do!
