Hi all... Greetings from sunny Kuwait. I am getting back into the hobby after a 35 year hiatus. Just kicked off with building a tank for Kuwait's National Day.
Have two Tommy's War figurines on order and am interested in WWI figures in general, I particular want to make/convert some WWI figures to Latvian military figures of 1919-1920s and interwar years.

Thanks Joe. I like the idea of 'mini' dioramas; ie telling a story, more than just single figures.... Lets see what transpires!

Hi Harvey. Wellcome to planet Figure. I know two figures of El Viejo Dragon, brand from Spain, with which, you could make a conversion into Latvian army 1920´s.
This are the figures in 54mm:

Oh GREAT NEWS Edorta! :)
Yes... I can see the possibilities. Thanks so much for the tip. They look pretty decent figures in themselves but would be an interesting conversion to make. Its funny deving into the more 'obscure' corners of the hobby but it satisfies my love of research, 'heraldic/insignia' research and artistic possibilities!

Welcome Harvey
These are some interesting ideas for projects you have. I look forward to seeing some of your work posted. This is a great site with many talented and knowledgable artists and I've found everyone to be very helpful with painting/sculpting/converting tips as well as a great source of historical and uniform information.

Enjoy your stay

Thanks Colin, see you are a Franco-Prussian war fan too. At least a great Prussian Grenadier. With any luck I should have a couple of Tommy's War figures soon and I am itching to get working....
The Tamiya figures that came with my Challenger build just did not cut it... but who knows.. the stash box might come in useful some rainy day!

Hi again, Harvey. I forgot to mention that Metal Modeles, from France, has a range of figures of WWI

Metal-Modeles, Catalogue Figurines Phoenix Folies, figurine de collection, soldats de plomb

Maybe you can do something with this two

Oh gosh yes! Especially for the War of Liberation 1919! Most Latvians used their (old) Russian/German uniforms with armbands etc. It was not till the war was over proper Latvian uniforms were made.
