Hi folks

Did a bit more on the fancy hat ....now all finished , now working on the sash ...going for this effect as in this portrait

One thing on Martins details sheet below he says the sash should be red but I can't find anything showing a red sash so going for the orangy brown colour ...

If anyone has more details ref sash colour do say !

Hi folks

Small verbal update ....sash painted up ......atm the isn't all swirling...but "might" try again ...it was a late night at the bench

Will look at it in natural light as well

Going to put a wash of satin varnish on the sash

Think next will be the medals and stars

Stay tuned

Hi Kevin,

As an oily one and not being able to paint moiré effect on a sash, I'd mix W&N Gold into the red oil paint. With a little experimenting that give a shimmering effect, which IMO is the goal of using moiré silk for order sashes anyway.

It worked for me with W&N Silver oil in the blue sash of comrade Potemkin.

Happy painting,

Pierre

Hi Nigel , Steve and Daniel

Thanks for the comments ...not sure about Medal man though ...I like trying to get things as right as possible

Happy benchtime

Couple of iffyvision pics of the aguilette and epaulette, still to do the diamonds and the twisted cord in silver on the other shoulder

Got a slight variety between the headwear and aguilette which is what I aimed for ....honestly!

Next will be the collar and lapel edging

Thanks for looking in

Happy benchtime
