Grunbeld bust - Anime 1/3 scale resin kit

Hi everyone.

here is the bust some of you helped me with a month ago.

The kit is a original from Headlong - a sculpting company in japan. The design is based on a giant from a manga (comic) series called Berserk.

I chose the colours based on his ability to turn into a fire dragon.

I can only imagine the cries from mold makers on seeing this the first time! It must be a feat of engineering to cast this!

Hello Scott, down under. . .

You've done nice work on this one, Scott. What scale is it? I'm not familiar
with that company Headlong. But considering how my life has gone. . . wall,
I am familiar with Berserk. . . Just kiddin', really.

I like your color choices and the reddish tones go well with the yellow orche
or golden tones quite well. Looks like you've had a lot of fun with this one.

However, my personal taste in this kind of fantasy figure is that I'd like for
you to take the highlights a little further. I could see where you could
introduce a hint of the gold on the tops of the red folds and points of the figure.
I think that addition would make a very nice presentation look even more
dynamic. But of course, you understand, this is just a person opinion, as to
my taste.

gordy - the bust came in 12 pieces. also, from what I have seen, these scale busts aren't really that uncommon. Its just waiting for the subject you want to come out that is the problem

kansas - Regarding those highlights you mentioned, I did actually go over the claw tips and some of the helmet points with a metallic red powder which can't be seen in the photos.
But thankyou for your opinion, it is appreciated. Some people have noted I could of gone a bit further on this one. But hey, still learniong at the moment

Good stuff Scott, glad to see you've finished this monster bust.

As others have pointed out,you could have taken the highlights a bit further just to make it "pop" a bit more, but you've still done a grand job.

thanks for all the replies everyone.

looks like my highlighting still needs work. I might try changing the globe in my room to a lesser wattage and see if that makes a difference when I paint (so makes me highlight more rather than less)

You've done a fine job. . . and re taking those highlights another notch, hey
it's all about feeling comfortable. Just keep at it, and the progress will come.
The main thing is to make sure it is fun. . . it's a hobby after all. . . and
most assuredly, we do learn by doing.
