I just finished this beautiful bust from Stormtroopers/Grenadier Miniatures. I was pretty pleased with the way he turned out. Definitely showed improvement from my last piece. I used the Andrea flesh set for the face, mostly artists acrylics for the uniform and oils for the leather equipment. Photos are not great as they were taken with my phone in the kitchen! Not sure why he's lying down when I add the pictures. They're the right way up on my computer!

Very nice Pete, How did you get on with The Andrea flesh set what did you think of it. I bet you had the right hump when the photo's came out side ways.:D

IPad and iPhone pix seem come come out turned when posted. I resolve this by editing the pictures on my iPad - simply flipping them 90 degrees 4X for a full 360 degree rotate. Seems to fool the device when posting here. Very strange but it works for me and some others.

Pete,

You are improving with every piece you take on, just the way you want it to be.
Whilst I like all of it; I am drawn to the way that you have tackled the blue of the tunic (not an easy one to get right) and the finish on the GG insignia that looks exactly like sewn on felt.
All round a great result that you should be pleased with, I am.
More power to your elbow Pete,
All the best
Keith

PS. If you view the photo's through the enlarger they are the right way around.

Hi Mick,

It worked pretty well. Following the guidelines on the box leads to a rather dark complexion. It's fine in this case as a chap in the Sudan would probably have a pretty good tan. However, if I were doing a self portrait of a pasty faced Londoner it might not be so good. :)

Thanks very much for the tip. I'll give it a try.

Hi Keith,

Thanks very much. That means a lot. The tunic involved mixing a lot of blue and greys (and quite a bit of swearing!). In the Sudan the red letters were actually cut out of the issue red tunics. This led to a few problems when they had to go back to red tunics at the end of the campaign!

Take care.

Pete
