Hi guys

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything here as I’ve been consumed with work and a 1/35th scale conversion of a Leopard tank to an Australian AS1 version.

Now that the tank is done, I’ve started on this cracking bust of Hannibal by Nuts Planet.

I’m going for a darker skinned version as most of my research suggests the Carthaginians were Semitic peoples related to earlier Phonecians. Certainly not a pale or olive skinned European or Mediterranean complexion.

Early days so far. Still blocking in the primary colours and trying to get a harmonious balance to compliment the armour. As always I welcome constructive criticism and feedback.

Hi Tony

Great to know you’ve been busy with the tank conversion , do share pics if possible

A fine bust to get working on , liking the way the skin tones are heading , lots of textures to deal with on this bust

Following with interest

Looking forward to seeing more

Have fun @ the bench

Thanks for your likes and comments.

Nap, here are a few pics to satisfy your request. Prior to taking up figure painting approximately 30 years ago, I was a dedicated and enthusiastic armour modeller for 20 years. Every once in a while I like to revisit my interest in AFV’s and this one was close to my heart. As a child I witnessed the arrival of the very first contingent of Leopard tanks to join the Australian Army while living at Puckapunyal in Victoria. The sight, sound and vibration of 30 of these goliaths tolling along the road behind my house was enough to leave an indelible impression on an 11 year old boy.

Good to see you back Tony.
Looking forward to your work on this one. And great job on the Leopard! I too am sometimes tempted to return to my old tank fetish. One day….

Liking the leopard skin, not an easy task with the fur sculpted in so much relief and the metallics have a great start.

Cheers Simon

Hi Tony

Good start on the animal skin , not the easiest to get right but sure yours will look great

Thanks for the updates

Looking forward to seeing more

...even though the spots on the Leopards you showed in your Monday post seemed more on the greenish/brownish side than these...

Really nice Tony, must have been a pain with the fur detail but it looks great, some shading and it will be stunning.

Cheers Simon
