Just finished this fine 1/10 scale, Dolman Miniatures bust of H. J. Marseille.

While I have plenty of good references at my disposal, (besides the internet), I was at a loss as to the correct painting of Marseilles' ribbon bar. Naturally I sought out the help of two of the Planet's gurus on all things medals and ribbons. Many thanks to both Kevin (Nap), and Martin Atonenko. Thank you Gents!

So pleased to receive comments from our Guru on high of all things busts, medals, and orders!:D

Ok, as for the shirt, I used Vallejo Desert Yellow as a base. For highlights I added Iraqui Sand I and then pushed it a bit more with just a smidgeon of White. For the darks, I added Burnt Umber in varying amounts.

As for the goggles, simply painted the lenses black followed by 2 coats of Future.

Thanks again for your help!

Joe

Thank you sir!

Yeah, it's a pretty good sculpt. Might be getting others from that brand in the future.

Joe

I have just completed sculpting one into a full figure of H.J Marseille, the quality of the bust is excellent. The colour of his shirt really stands out for me, very nice colour choice.
Cheers

Steve, am I to understand that you used this bust to convert to a full figure? Whatever the case, I'm anxious to see it!

I looked at numerous color pics of Luftwaffe troops in N. Africa on the internet. Plus, I have a good book on the Afrika Korps that is filled with color photos of surviving specimens. So, getting the color as close as possible was pretty easy.

Yes that is correct, I used this bust to convert, was an enjoyable project. The figure was for a private customer so will have to get their permission to share the photos.

That would really be nice to see. Hopefully the collector will be gracious. Fingers crossed!:D
