Have a great and festive Hogmanay and a healthy, happy and prosperous 2020.
Here's something suitable. If you don't recognise the song you might the tune, The Bloody Fields of Flanders. It's not so much national as international and anti-imperialist and although it's references are Glaswegian they work just as well in Hull, Liverpool, Belfast........pretty much anywhere that embarked soldiers to conflicts.
This version is IMHO by far the best by The Dubliners (interpretation is a bit ropey but you'll get the gist)

Anyway I'll raise a glass to you all at 23.59
Cheers
Derek

And a very happy one to you too Del from a very smokey Down Under.

Stay safe mate .....my son lives in Wellington NZ and has some Aussie friends with him for the new year. It must be a real worry for them about what they are going home to.
On a cheerier note it's 02.00 am here and me and my neighbours are just about to do the Aussie thing and have a BBQ, temperature -2c.
Saw the bells in with a few Dalwhinnie 15 year old malts so not feeling the cold or anything much else to be honest.....our wives are not best pleased but they've gone to their beds so who cares :D

(y) (y) Well done that man. Nothing like a good single malt to welcome in the New Year - or to welcome in anything for that matter.

All good here although the national capital is blanketed in smoke at the moment from the terrible fires at the coast - I have never seen bushfires on this scale before - its like we are auditioning for Dante's Inferno. Our hearts go out to those who have lost their homes - brings back memories of the 2003 fire here when we had to fight to save our house, but we are a pretty resilient mob and this is what we live with, so we just get on with it.

Have another great year painting.

Warm regards
Chris
