Hi Ron,
I was looking to construct something similar for oils.
Have you resolved the issue with a lower wattage bulb? If so may I ask what size bulb is best to use?
All the very best,
Keith

Keith I'm using a sixty watt old fashioned tungsten bulb now marketed as service bulbs to get by EU regulations
The afore mentioned figure was the first try but I just put it to cole to the bulb  in fairness it was part of a flag standard so a thin bit of resin .
The box is made out of 12mm MDF with four 20mm holes drilled at the top on one side and lined with kitchen foil 300 high x200mm deep
and just using a bit of cardboard at the front to keep in the heat as it is only a prototype at the moment .bulb options could range from 40 to a hundred watt I suppose  but prop best starting at the low end don't want to set the house on fire :D
If you want I will send you a picture .

Ron

PS the first test was on Titanium white and it dried matter than matt could be, so it works !!

Thanks Ron,
It sounds as though it works well with the added bonus of matting the finsh too. Whites are always a pig for drying and that would be thw acid test for Me.
Well done Mate. Thanks for the construction information and photos would be vey much appreciated.
All the very best,
Keith

My light box is made out of 1/2 inch particle board and lined with aluminum foil with an adjustable shelf. I use a 40 watt light bulb as a heat source. The size is 16L x 16Wx 25H inches. There is a 3/4 inch vent hole at the top left corner and a magnetic hinge for the door.

This is mine, drybox (Medium).jpg
measures 20 x 20 x 30 cm. Light bulb is 40 W.
I need to change the alu foil.
For resin: It depends on the resin that is used, the distance is a great factor for melting. I can say that the resin from the busts that Stormtrooper and SK miniatures and YS Masterpieces using is awesome. Never seen a melting figure, or thinny detail changed shape.
I had by incident one chinese recast, and it melted. So there whas no harm done :D:LOL:
That ended in the trashbin.

Ron,
I think you had it to close to the bulb. I never had problems with it.
Changing colors ???? I find that contrast is less after the drybox then dryin in the air.

On very good advice from Ron I am making a French version of the heat box.
When I say making......... the good thing about it is that there is no carpentry involved:D.

The really good thing is that you have to drink six bottles of wine before you can fix the light bulb in to position. So I will not be able to start work on it until Monday:hungover:

Hic!!! Cheers,

My sincere apologies Michel,
There are two bottles of Bordeaux Chateau Venus. Bottled at the Chateau 2011.
Two bottles of Bordeaux Les Hauts de Pez. Bottled a la propirete 2010
And finally two bottles of Bordeaux Chateau La Branne Medoc. Bottled at the Chateau 2010.
All will go well with roast Sunday lunch.
***** *****,
Keith

I know Haut de Pez, Chateau La Branne is a "new" one, 1986 venture, never had the chance to taste this one but it's a Medoc, must be good
And Chateau Venus is a Graves, nothing can ever go wrong with a Graves

Now you have to taste once a White Wine; a Pulligny Montrachet, or Chassagne Montrachet . Balzac said about the Montrachet : " ... it's a wine you must drink, on your knees, hats off..." 8° C not bellow
Enjoy
