Thought I’d have a change of direction with this latest piece I’ve done.
I’ve always been a huge fan of Breaking Bad / Better Call Saul, and when I came accross the scale collectables releases I just knew then I had to paint them, over the next year or so I plan to complete most of the collection from the series.
id like to thank Mark Brooks for his excellent communication and service during the ordering of the busts.
The piece I’ve decided to start with is the bust of Hector Salamanca, actually he’s one of my favourite characters from the series, played excellently by actor Mark Margolis,a sinister character who dosent speak but communicates with the aid of a desk bell.
the bust is excellently sculpted by Sid Naique,he has captured Marks excellent expressions portrayed in the character.
This was a great subject and I loved painting it,all the detail is there,it just cries out for paint.
the bust itself is cast in grey resin and comes in 4 parts, the head, main body, tubes for the face and neck,Mark also includes a couple of spare tube parts should they snap, care needs to be taken as they are quite fine and brittle.
I completed the bust in just over a week on and off and was finished using my usual technique of oils over acrylics.
I haven’t yet removed the masking tape from the base, instead of a holder,I decided to secure to the wooden base and then paint, this would save me handling the piece once painted.
thank you
Brian
