Well I wasn't too worried about it before, but now!!!! Taken in small steps it shouldn't be too bad, I hope.

Not a great deal of progress, I'm concentrating on the helmet for now. I spent a couple of hours gently filing and shaping the initial putty work to get the front peak and slightly swept back bowl of the helmet right. Then adding more putty to the rear peak so I can gently file that back to the right shape once cured.

It's a slow process for me, I don't think I could sculpt larger chunks of the helmet in one go, so it is a case of adding little bits at a timefor better control of the shaping. Tedious but worth the effort.

Thanks Neil, the enjoyment comes when it starts looking like it's supposed to until then I have to admit it gets a little tedious waiting for little bit of putty I know will need filing off to cure. But I chose to do it so I can't complain.

Seriously, I think yr are doing the right thing, sculpting yr own helmet. Keep yr scalpel sharp (ooops I shldnt have said that? Hahaha). Rgds Victor.

I've got my safety slippers on, if I drop another scalpel at least I won't get blood on the laminate flooring again! Be careful messing with my head, I wouldn't want to get stuck in there it's a scary place, I try to stay clear myself!

Nigel& Daniel, many thanks gents. I'll be adapting Historex helmets soon enough for the Cuirassier general, that and a challenge is always good.

I managed some bench time this morning, though I am suffering after an arduous weekend, I know what a hero!
Anyway I added the lace on the front of the tunic and did some tidying up on the helmet. Also I added the crest to the helmet last week, it is taken from a Carabiner helmet and will.be textured with my pyrogravure in time.
