Hello all,

I am new to this great forum, looks like I've got alot to learn here.

I am planning on making a French Cuirassier diorama, 1/72 scale using the body of Italeri French Carabiniers with Dragoon heads. I really want to put these converted Cuirassiers charging at the enermy. Here comes the question, I am having some troubles in finding a good subject to charge against the French Cuirassiers. Any good suggestions? Preferably available from Italeri.

What I have in mind are as follows:
Russian Cossacks,
British Scots Greys (to depict a Waterloo scene, but I think the Cuirassiers never really charged against the Scots Greys in Waterloo...)

What would be a good subject for a diorama to depict a charging scene against French Cuirassiers? Sorry for my ignorance in the history, but I really want to make a good diorama with the Cuirassiers, they just look so good.

I have actually complete two sets of 1/72 figures using Italeri products. I will surely share those later in this forum.

Thanks for your viewing or replies.

Why not have the cuirassiers charging a square of british infantry? These charges against the infantry squares at Waterloo are famous , and are depicted in many paintings. I should think you would have little trouble finding references for a scene of this nature.
Good luck with your project.

I can recommend The Campaigns of Napoleon by David Chandler. As a rule, the Cossacks did not stand and fight and heavy cavalry would not have been used to chase them off or pursue them. I agree with you, the heavies were not used in the rout of the Scots Greys following their charge at Waterloo.

Start here and keep looking. Austerlitz, Jena, Eylau, Wagram. Eylau would be interesting. It was snowing when Murat led the cavalry forward.
