Ok, lets clear the decks! without getting into, pin/dot/and penis painting!

Bottom line! we have a 'Helm'. (Not Steve). Although he might have a shiny head! who knows.

Q) Should the cloth wrap be more glossy than the shell of the helmet. ?

A ) = ?

This is not about the gold bits or detail. More the contrast between matt & reflective. on the cloth vs. shell.

I think we have three different answers to questions relating to the same piece of kit ( helmet.)
1, Turban. I was wanting to know how I could make it look like silk. I think I have the answer I was looking for. Will put it to the bench asap.
2, Metal work great advice and will follow. I didn't intend to shade or what ever you would call it with pin work I was going to try a general wash,
3, Black on the shell and visor yes it needs work as the whole headdress is in theory to /all black, and needs breaking up.

I was taking it one step at a time, but buy the looks of it Ive got buy one get TWO free, THANKS CHAPS.
Just one more question if I dare how can I get a leather cracking effect for the visor.

I can see I am going to have to take a lot of beer money to Euro.

Like everyone has said I'd keep the helm the glossier of the two. In the case of silk, I usually add a very small dab of poppyseed oil (Phil Kessling trick) to my oil mix. This will leave a subtle satin finish

Mick, for the 'Cracking', paint effect, give Ron.C. (Kagemusha), a nudge. He has tested most of these 'Specific', off the shelf, paints.
