A friend of mine recently bought a collection of large scale figures. It included an almost full set of 180mm Le Cimier figures which I have now purchased from him.
I was not interested in the items pictured but was wondering if any of you can identify any of the following. They look like studio productions many of them are limited editions and all in 175mm to 200mm scale.

Hi Keith ,

Some lovely looking models there ,possibly the Imperial Gd on the right is the 1/24 th Airfix , thought some of the otters might be All the Queens Men's Men but the size is too large .

Perhaps Mirosoft might be able to help in this ?

I agree the Airfix model was the only one I recognised. He has pictured them in groups by producer some have a tiny disc shaped impressed mark with initials but not legible. They are all in painted heavy resin.

I believe Stadden might have done something very similar to the 3 in the first picture , looks like Falklands piece with the middle depicting possibly a member of what was the Ace Mobile Force ...not sure about the scale though these might have been smaller .

Might also possibly be some from The Franklin Mint as well ( mounted ) or Kitney ( 2nd picture )

Nap

I think some might come from something like the Franklin Mint, they look like a series of some sort but bear in mind that these are 180-200mm so I think that rules out Tradition and Kitney as I am not aware of anything above 110mm from Tradition and 90mm from Kitney (the old Barton Kits). I don't know Sentry Box did they do large scale?

Thanks for your help guys it is much appreciated

I am sure the Hm mounted figure is David Grieve
Pete

I concur.
The rest look like Tradition or maybe Stadden I wouldn't be surprised if there are some of the late great Tassel / Lasset as well. Jubilee Miniature as well may appear.

Sorry I can't be any more help. I look forward to seeing where this goes as well actually. It's great to be quizzed and not know an answer!

Sentry Box were large size figures and were sold in their shop in the Burlington Arcade. Handy for Tradition when it was on Piccadilly.

The 18th century British Grenadier in mitrecap could be by John Niblett, as could the ECW figure stood next to him. There was an article in Military Modelling about Sentry Box back in 1971/1972.

Geoff

Hi Geoff-I have the Niblett figures, one of my early paints, these are much poorer in execution and resin as opposed to the Niblets in White Metal. I think they are studio pieces but no idea who by-thanks for the suggestion and best regards.

Hi Pete, thanks for responding-funnily enough there was a DFGfigure of the Queen in the collection which I bought along with the Le Cimier Pieces. Again these are Resin and around 200mm in size.
Thanks for looking mate.

Hi Red Tom, were the sentry box figures monogrammed? Resin? these are quite crude, for example the Robert E.Lee mounted figure is on a horse that looks as though it has Mumps-very poorly sculpted by Military Modelling standards, however if these were tourist pieces they wouldn't be as discerning.........thanks for your help.
