Hi Paneteers!:)

A year ago I made a casting request with Maurice Corry: I paid a lot of money and all I have received from Moz were repeated assurances he would send me the goods but nothing ever came. For over a month now he hasn't replied to my emails nor has he sent me the money back.

WHAT CAN I DO??
Any ideas from any of you would be greatly appreciated!

I realise he has a lot of work, but given the amount of money involved and that it has been a WHOLE YEAR since I made the order I'm sure you can imagine how incredibly frustrating this is....

Many thanks, Colin

Bro, welcome to the world of getting screwed over by him. I have heard many many tales of him screwing people out of money and figures.

Jcichon Have you ever been "screwed over" by Maurice or are you just writing to make yourself heard? I have only ever had exceptional service from Moz, in fact at one time I owed him money but he never chased me for it, knew he would get it to him when I could.
I can well understand Colins problem but its been quite a while since the hoards were pounding at his gates. Really think it has to be dealt with on a one to one basis.
Numerous letters and emails for a while. Dont need other people making it a witchhunt.

On the other side of the coin I have also read people getting the figures that they had ordered if they pursue MC long enough. Be patient and keep emailing him it might not get sorted for a couple of months but if you correspond in a reasonable manner without insults and threats you might get your kit.

Thanks Pilgrim, I think that was what I said. Patience is the best way to go and I have no doubt Colin will get his figure(s). Sometimes he is a bit slow but well worth the wait.

Why yes I did!! Ordered several figs a few years ago and NEVER received them. Moz said he would dispatch new ones ONLY after I had made a paypal dispute and guess what??? The promised figures NEVER arrived. But he only responded to my emails ONLY after I had opened the paypal dispute. At least I got my money back. Never got the figures. I also never used threats or insults until I had to say I was going to dispute the transaction. I never made a threat. I only said I was going to contact paypal since he wouldn't respond. You all can flame me all you want. When I am willing to spend my HARD EARNED money with a company I expect prompt service. If they cant deliver prompt service then at least tell me there is an expected delay. Moz is a fantastic sculptor and his talent is undeniable. He is in my opinion a bad business man. I did get a Moz sculpt from a reputable, established company and loved it. But I would never order from him again. I don't need to "make myself heard" I was sharing my opinion which is exactly what you did Don. Does my bad experience make my opinion wrong and your good experience make yours right? I shared my opinion. I thought that's what forums were for or am I wrong??? Please tell me!! So flame away if you like.

Not trying to take sides here Jcichon but you didn't exactly get screwed over if you got your money back. I can see how a trader has let you down badly but screwed over suggests you lost both money and figures. It was a bad experience for you that is undeniable but all you lost was time. Like you I have read on many forums problems with MC and hes is definitely figure painters marmite.

Pilgrim I see your point. SO no I didn't get "screwed over" since I did get my money back. So I will rephrase. I was "let down" by Moz on an order I placed.

But Moz figures, now, aren´t sold only by Mitches Military Models, of Gordon Mitchel (who is a great guy with a great service, by the way) ?

Jcichon, was certainly not trying to start a "Flame" war and I am very sorry you had a bad experience with Moz, I have never had anything but very good service from him. The point I was trying to make was that Planet had a lot of people jump onto a anti-Moz broadcast and I wondered if you were one. Had you explained your situation a trifle more I would never have posted as I did. I know that people actually complained about Moz without ever having purchased anything, or tried to do in your case, but they still felt they could throw their weight into a thread that just got out of hand.
I appologise if I gave that impression to you, was never my intention and am delighted you enjoyed his figure even if you had to use a trader to get it. Make no excuses for Moz, he is certainly not the best business man around but just didnt want a real flame war.

Don

No worries Don. I have to remind myself that we don't all see things the same way and I should take other peoples comments into consideration before I pop a gasket! I should have explained my experience first before I passed on my opinion. No apologies needed. All is well!

Hey we are dealing with what I consider true Artistes and sometimes patience should be observed(granted a year is a little long) I have always been satisfied with Moz waited a bit longer once but he always has come thru. especially considering world wide shipping delays and problems sometimes with that. I never feel there is ever intent of fraud. Oh well just my thoughts

I know the thread you speak of. I also remember it finally got Maurice off his ass and make some things right for people. It seems a public outcry is needed for some people to have their ethics awakened.

Thanks for the input guys! As you said Meehan, the only way I have been able to get a response out of Moz in the past was by posting on PL like this. I don't think that constitues a witch hunt and if these issues can't be addressed here where else can they? I'm sure many have had nothing but terrific experiences with moz and I'm sure no one here will disagree that his figures are superb... but, artist or not, he is running a business and, as jcichon said, when we send him our money there is no excuse for not coming through with the goods. A year is a long time and when he simply ignores (always very polite, friendly, and understanding) emails this is the only way to get through to him...I simply hope he will finally send them off.

I think it better to say "he was runing a business." I don't think his company is extant anymore. I know he offered custom casting as a service when he had his own company to sell his sculpting work but last time I looked for it the page that offered that service was gone... or at least I couldn't find it. Not to excuse the issue, you need resolution. But I just wanted to you to be aware that his "business" activities in this ara may no longer be in operation. If someone knows better I am glad to be corrected. Hopefully you are just the victim of disorganisation and appallingly long delay. Good luck.

Colin

His website www.120mini.com now returns an error message asking the owner of the site to contact tech support. For several months that site carried an announcement regarding a new range of cold cast bronze type sculpts to be released by Maurice Corry. Unless I'm missing something there doesn't appear to have been many releases of newer sculpts recently. The only one I can think of is the Guy Gibson figure. Maybe there is a new website and contact details?

Always bought directly from Corry with no problems....

Same for me never had an issue and Moz always came through in the end.

But Moz figures, now, aren´t sold only by Mitches Military Models, of Gordon Mitchel (who is a great guy with a great service, by the way) ?

Hear Hear first class service from Gordon, absolutely impeccable record for all dealings and an extremely nice guy to communicate with.
