The cap band - whereby I tried to imitate the damaged area where the SS skull was torn off as closely as possible ...:

Unfortunately, sensible pictures are not possible with the lighting conditions today - and the whole cap still shines very much.

But I show you the pictures anyway ...:

Cheers

For all of you waiting for the next chapter...:

I will go on next Monday with the details of the cap - the oils need a bit of time to dry.

Sorry - I'm only now coming to put my day's work in ...

The last brushstrokes apply to the details of the cap that our comrade put on the piglet's head.

Let's take a closer look at the officer's cap from Hitler's gang of murderers ...:

The SS variant of the Reichs eagle (1) was not embroidered on these caps, but was stamped from aluminum and attached with two clips ...:

The two buttons (2) to which the garter strap was attached were made of the same material ...:

I used silver printer's ink and then worked out the details with very thin washes with a mixture of "neutral black" and printers ink ...:

The storm belt (3) consisted of cord for the officer's caps, which was braided from silver threads ...:

I first painted them with "Vallejo" silver - and then applied thin washes of silver and black ...:

The cap peak (4) is not high-gloss at my templatee, but looks rather matt ...

... so that I don't have to paint "hard" light reflections, but can use black and white oil paints ...

... which are veneered as smoothly as possible.

And that's it, the finished cap - although I want to do a little rework on the top piping tomorrow ...

So much for today.
Cheers

I have just finished correctures of the cap - the pipings and the peak, where I have tightened the light / dark contrasts a bit ...

... then the cap was put on the piglets head with two-component glue ...

... and now I'm ready!

Tomorrow there will be some final pictures ...

Thank you Palo for sculpting this wonderful bust, it was a real pleasure to paint it!
