Is this an okay on this forum to talk about polymer clay in? It is just a certain type of clay? Are there users here that use polymer clay?

I looked at the sculpture subforum but it looked like a wip and no questions.

Thank you.

John: Could you give us the name brands of the products for which you have an interest? Polymer means a large molecule linked in repeating structural units usually linked by covalent chemical bonds.

From Wikipedia:

Natural polymeric materials such as shellac, amber, and natural rubber have been used for centuries. A variety of other natural polymers exist, such as cellulose, which is the main constituent of wood and paper. The list of synthetic polymers includes synthetic rubber, Bakelite, neoprene, nylon, PVC, polystyrene, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyacrylonitrile, PVB, silicone, and many more.

So - synthetic polymer clay covers a wide, wide variety of commercial products.

If you give us the name brands, chances are somebody on this forum has used them and can tell you what works and what doesn't.

Another source of info is The Compleat Sculptor http://www.sculpt.com/

or

http://www.polymerclayweb.com/default.aspx The Polymer Clay Web site.

All the best,
Dan

I believe it's just Sculpey or something like that from Michael's. Maybe their in house brand. I don't have the packaging anymore. Just learning. For making miniatures like wargaming type.
