At the risk of sounding like a broken record... I too love the tartan! Personally I think the shirt though is the strongest element. I love the shading and highlighting and the subtle blood stains. This really is extremely impressive work. Very inspiring.

Hi Christos,

As others have said, the tartan is awesome. Personally, I find the skintone on the face too dark, particularly for a fair skinned Scotsman. I appreciate its a painting effect to emphasise the contrasts, but it doesn't look very natural to me and distracts from what is otherwise a beautifully painted figure.
