I present to you my latest bust from Nuts Planet, a Highlander Officer in resin 100 mm high. The kit is made up of 8 pieces, the support is provided but I did not use it because it is imposing.

Box art:

The character is inspired by actor Graham McTavish, who played the role of Dougal Mac Kenzie in the series “Outlander”. The sculpture is quite faithful to the actor, we can just notice that the tartan is much too pleated on the sculpture to represent a "real" fairly thick tartan which, as shown in the photos below, is much more "flat" and therefore simpler to paint, but undoubtedly less aesthetic and less seller....

In the photos taken from the TV series, the jacket is much thicker than on the sculpture, the color and patterns of the jacket are also darker and more discreet than in the box image, the hat is gray while 'it is generally represented blue....

For my part, I represented the hat in a faded blue color, the jacket quite dark with fairly faded blue lines. At first, I made the gray lines like on the real jacket, but it didn't look very good, it was a bit "flat", so I took inspiration from MH Whang's painting.

I'm quite happy with the result, so here are the photos.

Superb painting.
Everything is spot on, from the face to the detailing of the tartan and design on the jacket.
If I didn't know any better I could easily think I was looking at a photo of a real person.
Very, very well done.

Cheers,
Andrew

Thank you very much Kev. Yes I will support the competitions, I think we can enter two pieces for the competition which closes on June 30.

Awesome painting, I can't wrap my head round the tartan plaid or the jacket, then the metal work and leather to say nothing of the face, absolutely love it.

Cheers Simon

Most excellent. Amazing tartan work. Face and Sword also outstanding. Highlanders always a favorite of mine but difficult for me to paint consistently (my line work, ugh) and realistically. You set the bar high. Thank you for posting.
