I went last year and met up with Robin Snelson and Stuart Hale.
It's a pretty big show, larger than most; Sports Hall full of clubs and traders - Worth the trip! There was a web site last year with a list of traders but can't find it!
I would go this year but unable to (April seems to be horribly busy for me!)
Rob
PS Dave - everythings getting sorted - I haven't forgotton!
Hinckley is probably the biggest one-day general model show on the UK calendar. Usual large sports hall format with lots of club and trade support and a pretty comprehensive competition (with a strong figure section). It's well organised and there is good catering. Parking is free on Sundays in Hinckley and there is a sizeable car park just over the road (but get there early)
Phil - certainly one of the biggest of it's sort, but it may be getting pipped by the Milton Keynes Show that happens in February. Same format, they just have a few more rooms packed with stuff around the sports hall. Less figures though.
Last year it was just me and Robin. He was there as part of Stormtroopers and Stuart Hale was there too, but wasn't on PF at the time. Phil may have been there but wasn't on PF then! I only went to meet Robin and deliver the figure I painted for them.
Ross: You can't miss the Liesure Centre - it's more or less bang in the middle of the town, I guess a five minute walk from the station.
Rob: You are probably right about Milton Keynes, it may just pip Hinckley, and the IPMS Avon show at Yate is around the same size. I was certainly there last year and in previous years we used to have a figure display under the "Figureworks" banner. By the way, if you were a member of the Norfolk and Suffolk BMSS, I'm sure our paths have crossed somewhere in the past.
Dave: See you there. Bring something for the comp, you should do well
One of teh shows to rival both Hinckley and Milton keynes is Huddersfield, again along the same lines not a figure modellers show, but still a great day out.
Hey Guys - A great day was had by all. Met up with Phil (Nagashino) and Dave (Figure Mad). Having never met Dave before for it was great as he is a very nice chap. He run away with several first and seconds. Well done Dave. Daves work was better in person than what we have seen. His Mounted Cossack was a particular favourite of mine. I was lucky enough to gain a first in the Wargames class with my Mounted Pistolier.
Glad to meet you at last. It was a great show, brilliant for the amount of traders and club stands, competition was great quality.... congratulations on your first place...
If anybody can make next years show then I suggest you go, its the biggest one day event in the UK, and it covers every aspect of the hobby, wargamers, fantasy, armour, aircraft, modern motor vehicles, motorbikes, figures...
Just everything, but the competition covers the same as well...
