Hey guys,
Here's a quick blow-through review of this great book:
The book is organized into several different sections:
1 - The Organization of the Canadian Army
2 - Head-dress
3 - Insignia
4 - Decorations
5 - Uniforms
6 - Individual equipment, Personal equipment
7 - Optical Instruments, signalling, signals
8 - Weapons
9 - Armoured vehicles, transport
10 - Vehicle markings
11 - Canadian troops with the british army (1st Canadian parachute regiment, 1st Canadian Armoured Personnel Carrier Regiment)
Apendice - Dieppe, 19th august 1941
The entire book is full colour (with period black and white photographs) and crammed from cover to cover with information. A great section of the equipment section shows the infantry's webbing kit from both the front and back, helps to get an idea of how it hangs and what not, not all uniform books show that. Every cap badge, glengarry, beret, uniform isnignia is covered, as well as the individual markings on the most popular canadian vehicles. The vehicle section also has all the specs on i believe every vehicle used by the canadian army (leaving aside captured vehicles). Also included is all the info on all the formations, including CO from what date to what date, make up of regiments and units, etc. A large section breaks down all the functions of the different elements of the corps (provost, infantry, engineer, WACS, etc) all through with colour photographs of alot of the specialized equipment. The headdress section is fantastic, showing all the sidecap variants and colours for each regiment, as well as the distinctions between the different runs of british helmets (We used the same pattern). Same goes with the uniform section.
IF you have more specific questions, feel free to ask, i'd be happy to answer.
For anyone into commonwealth figures, and even those who aren't, this book was worth every penny !
