Sounds interesting... Not much info on the site, though.

Roc - What's the story? ;)

Keith

kit-maker are the behind Armorama; they are subdividing their forums so I assume it's an offshoot of Armorama.......

Hey Keith, the grand opening was scheduled for 5/16/06, they are a bit behind schedule for launching Historicus Forma, when they have things ready,I will let you guys know.

Cheers
Roc. :)

I wonder why they felt the need to create another web site when PlanetFigure and Timelines are so strong?

Because you'll always find someone else that feels they can do better, offer more etc etc. Though I visit other forums I just find it easier to actively participate on only one. I just do not see the point of commenting on the same new releases, reposting the same sbs etc etc, over and over. Then again, some folks might prefer the crowd at one site over another. As for me, I'm comfortable here. :) ~Gary

Rob,

Thanks for the heads-up. :)

Anyway I cannot afford to participate in more than ONE forum on figures. The rest of my spare time is divided between forums on guitars, DVD's and shiba-inu's.

So I guess that would solve MY problem.

Q.

I am with Gary.

Looking very much at Timelines, but what i see there is unfortunally very much the same as on the planet.
So, i'll stay here. That's enough and good enough.
Here is where i learn to paint, here are my roots.

Marc.

Armorama has had a figure forum for years, it's just that the site has grown so large that it's become necessary to split off some of the parts into seperate entities, linked to the main site.
As all areas of modelling are covered in one main site, it's useful for those who model more than one subject.

I use Armorama & PlanetFigure, but these are the only modelling sites I use. It's surprising how much knowledge crosses over between genres!

Dealing with many many different aspects of modelling makes a site sofat that you canstart tohave technical problems incmputer stuff or anything . So dividing the sites by category of interest would make them more flexible and easy to operate . I always thought it was good to have options where to get your info from ,so one more on the road....

Personally, I'd rather have a single "super site" where all figure modelers come together to discuss the hobby. Today, for example, if I'm looking for information about a given subject, I have to go to three, four, maybe more web sites to search their archives for information.

That said, I certainly understand how personalities and petty differences can lead to schisms and factions.

I do agree with Gary.
Is there really a need for more sites/forums ?
Similar thing hapend to AFV modelling sites,.... we started years ago with 2-3 very good ones now there is a dozen or so with stuff constantly overlapping or being repeated.

Personally I think PF rocks (y)

Well said.

I do think there is major potential for stretching oneself too thin and trying to contribute to too many places is fundamentally a bad idea*. This will ultimately bleed at least some attention from any competing forum, but on the other hand maybe it'll be great and well worth being in; and the online community grows constantly as dinosaurs discover the joys of being online  so maybe it's a good thing.

*Look at the major contributors to figure forums online (the ones I know about at least) and you can count on one hand the number of them that are among the top modellers in terms of output volume and quality... inevitable knock-on effect, there being only so many hours in the day.

Well...since you asked... :)

As some have already pointed out this is not really a totally new site. It's a new domain name for our Figure section of Armorama which has been one of the leading sites on the Internet for figures before Pf and Timelines were even started. I am not saying this to knock either of these fine sites, but I do get my feathers ruffled a tad when people don't even put our site in the running. After all Armorama has over 50,000 posts in it's figure forum, and over 200 feature and review articles (some of our earliest were by you Enion!). But try as we may we never seemed to be able to move past the whole "armorama" name stigma. Armorama... oh that's that Armor/AFV site right? Doh...

Thus the name change. I personally enjoy the area of historical miniatures a lot. I think they are some of the finest examples of the hobby.

I would be happy if some of you would at least give the site a look once it's up. You never know you may like it. I am not asking anybody to stop posting here or at TL, but an occasional visit to HFM is not going to put a Crick in anyone's online time.

While I am writing we are in need of a Managing Editor. John Pradarelli has had to step down from the leadership role of the site (yes that means *I* am not running the site) and so we are looking for a qualified candidate to take over for John.

This link explains all that Link

Cheers,
Jim

Hello Jim,

I'm not familiar with Armorama but will no doubt take a look at HF when it's online. Just let us know when. ;)

Best wishes,
Quang

Hi Quang,

For what it's worth we feature PiLiPiLi news over at Armorama as we receive it... ;) And they always get a great response... but maybe that's just because they're great products... ;)
