Gents,
After some final touches here it is. Paited with oils over acrylics while metal surfaces were done exclusively with printer's inks.
Since there is quite a bit of white on the figure itself I chose to place it in the late Fall rather than Winter setting.

Arthur you have done a very nice job on this knight. Very nice indeed. I stripped mine because I wasn't happy with the finish I was achieving. Granted, I think my techniques have changed, I just want to do a better job on this figure. A finish like you acieved. The colors are nice and vibrant and really jump out at you. Hopefully, I can paint mine half as well as you have ;) .

Thanks,
Jim Patrick

This is such a great figure. I first saw it at the Atlanta show painted by Matt Springer, and thought it should win best of show. You have done an excellent job of bringing this figure to life. Very nice paint job, great hearaldy, and rich vibrant colors. Would you explain how you paint your hearaldy?
Thanks,
Pete

Arthur,

That is quiet impressive. Great work. I really like it.
Your colours are clear, good shade and highlight and holding the creation of depth
or if you pleased 3D

Great work.

Marc

The face on this stands out a mile - excellent painting. The clothing, especially the white, really clear with good shadow definition.
IMHO the best rendition I've seen of this figure.

Jim,
I know you can do it.
Depending on the medium you are going to use it may be not as difficult as you think. I found oils over acrylics to be the best combination for achieving "lively" colors. The drawback is the drying time :(
The covered head is probably the easier of two to paint so you may consider that as well.
Hope you are going to again give it a try ;)
Cheers,
A.

Awesome job on a figure I have been too scared to take on!
Clinton
Clinton,
Thanks :)
I know what you mean,... it has been painted by so many great artists that it is intimidating to try match them.
Cheers,
A.

Pete,
I heard about Matts' figure from a friend who saw it in real life (Atlanta as well I believe).
As for heraldry,...well I sart with a design on a piece of paper, than I try to transfer the main components of it on the udercoated shield. Basicaly by drawing with sharp pencil the general outlines and placement of the design. I fill the "sketch" with acrylics. When everything is dried I go over certain areas with drafting pens to out line or fine tune (if black color is involved) the design in this case all of the eagels. Then a coat of clear to seal the drafting pen ink.
I add chips and scratches (use acrylics or pens) and weather the shield with washes of burn umber, burnt sienna or black.
I will do an SbS on it some time soon I promise :)
Cheers,
A.
