> 3.Recast from Original work ; No recast of recast

This is only one of some little gems you will find on an announcement on eBay.
You know, honesty is a great merit, and when buying from this guy you may rest assured about what you get...

Just found on the Female Figure Forum, here the full story.

So would you give the same credit to a murderer that openly admits to killing someone? People admit to crimes everyday, normally after they get caught in exchange for a lighter punishment. This clown admits to it before getting caught leaving himself/herself with little in the way of a defense.

I know murder and recasting is like comparing apples to oranges but they are both a crime. You may be impressed with this person's "honesty" and admission to recasting someone else's work, but in the end he or she's actions are nothing more but criminal and take away from those making an HONEST living.~Gary

P.S. I hope hope YOU are not entertaining the thought of buying this garbage.

Gary, you are 100% correct.

The fact that someone commits a crime openly and shamelessly does not make his act any less a crime. Recasting is nothing less than stealing someone else's work for your own gain. The fact that the customer is told it's a recast, to me, simply invites the customer to be a willing participant - not just a dupe.

I'm surprised E-Bay would allow this, as I thought they had a policy to respect copyright laws.

Your both 100% right, although I got the impression Luca was being sacarstic and not actually endorsing this putz! However it is refreshing to have an ebayer actually telling you he is selling stolen property, sure makes it easy not to deal with him!
Cheers

I agree that copies of other manufactueres work is completely unforgivable.

However, after reading the auction that is being discussed, it seams like to me that perhaps hes got a hold of the master and recasting it. If he owns the master he can recast it as many times he wished. Perhaps a problem in language since the fella seams to be from Thailand.

Maybe as Anders says its a problem of Language , since they say recast of the original work. Anyway if its a copy of other people 's work is a crime for sure and no decent figure painter would get it i hope !!!! At least i wont

Men, please, what one must do, attach a drawing to every post where witticism and sarcasm is used to explain it ?

It's incredible that you can think I can endorse piracy. I understand that through a forum is hard to know about a person, but I think that there are enough messages I posted to make clear about me. So, in your opinion, I'm the class of person which one day posts the latest news from a well known brand and the next day supports some obscure recaster ? Ah!, I think Lancer must come from another planet if he was the only one who understand me.

It's obvious that I do not agree with such practice, but what can I do, take a gun and shot him ? Real life is already too tragic, maybe a bit of humour can help to handle this cruel world, or not ?

I don't know about this ebay guy, but seeing the subject and the source it's likely a pirate copy, and a recaster introducing his work with a sentence like "you got a recast from an original, not from a copy!" is too tragicomic in his candour.
And if that guy is not a pirate and he is selling a copy of his work, recasted from an original master, so my apologies, but I'm still thinking that it's a real (even if unintentional) gem of irony.

Where is your sense of humor ? I'll pass, no more like that.

By the way, this is from wikipedia (it's not a translation, it's the original english version, so I think it give no grounds for more misunderstanding):

Irony:
"Irony is a form of expression in which an implicit meaning is concealed or contradicted by the explicit meaning of the expression.
Irony involves the perception that things are not what they are said to be or what they seem.
[...]
Irony is a matter of a perceived disconnection between words and real attitude or values of the speaker, rather than a difference between the denotative meanings of the words a speaker uses"

Sarcasm:
"The term is frequently misused as a synonym for irony. Irony refers however to the literal meaning and the intended meaning of the words uttered being different, while sarcasm refers to the mocking intent of the utterance. It is possible to be ironic without being sarcastic, and to be sarcastic without being ironic."

Ah, and I missed that. No, generally I do not entertain buying such class of garbage, I prefer to sculpt with my own hands my own garbage.

Luca, FWIW I read your post as being a wry observation on the honesty of the seller :)

I see the item in question is still up for sale, despite I'm sure being reported by somebody at this stage. Since eBay's reps are completely ignorant of the topic they won't respond to reports about this sort of thing from what I've seen - I've reported at least four or five Thai sellers who clearly stated they were recasting in their auction descriptions and did they do anything about it? Nah. Try to sell some OEM software and see how fast they yank it... typical bloody eBay double standard.

Luca, when I saw your first post I was amuse because of the honesty of the Seller... but sometimes you got to understand People frequently don't find the same things amusing, but when they do it can help to create powerful bonds.

Humor being subjective, one may or may not find something humorous because it is either too offensive or not offensive enough, remember that we all come from different cultures and ways of life, not many people understand the Roman Irony

Saludos mi amigo, recuerda el que se enoja pierde

Ditto... ;) It's like calling yourself an "honest criminal"...

Luca - my apologies for not picking up on your true meaning. I WAS surprised that you would defend such a pirate, based on your other postings, but there is also a lot of confusion and misinformation on this subject. I'm glad to be wrong here!

Maybe a smiley face would have tipped me to your sarcasm.

Best Regards.

Dont worry, there was my fault. I was not thinking on how hard could be translating some feelings in a language which is not my natural tongue.
Moreover, is really difficult to report about something ironical without losting the original meaning.
No problems at all.
Luca
