I just wanted to show its mixed tones that make a face.
Despite what magazines say the closer you get the more you see, if you can fit more tone(of the basic colour) in the smallest area you will get the transition.
Its not complicated, Bill Horan does not explain it but in his bokk the pics show it.
He uses layers in Humbrol, I use oils

Save the pic as and zoom in, you will see many many colours, or should I say variations of the same but differnet tones
