How do you build horse bit?

Is there any good rerefences for making horsebit? or can you share your ideas? any scale.
and...I want to know there's any shape or type differences between era or countries. Am I only one who cares about this tiny things? hope not...
any info will be welcome.

Is there something particular you're looking for? I have several references for medieval and earlier bits. I think I may also have some reference documentation for 18th and early 19thc. bits as well.

I'm particularly looking for 18th - 19th, but also I want to know the differences between eras. Since there are not many references / SBS on making bits I thought it good if we have that kind of good reference thread in PF. So Any tips and info will be welcome.

Somewhere should be scale drawings for armatures, can't find them at the moment (they changed forum software), but if you search long enough, you will find them for sure
