Dear Friends
Here is the finished vignette. The three worn out, tired and starved crusaders on their way to the holy city in 1099...
The figures were all painted with a mix of different acrylics, Scale 75, Andrea, Vallejo, tube acrylics.
I focused on achieving a dusty and dirty appearance and faded and worn look of the clothes, same for the iron helmets and ring mail. Lots of different earth tones, warm brown ones, were added throughout the painting. Really interesting to use colors to add the final touch to you have been sculpting. No pastels were used, I prefer to paint everything as it gives me total control of the shading and highlighting.
Note also that there hardly any cool colors here, all to maintain the feel of the climate and environment.
Had lots of fun doing this vignette. Well maybe, with the exception of sculpting ring mail... !;)
Happy modelling!

Gobsmacked (but that was to be expected).
I am in complete awe at your ability to capture moods and environment in your vignettes. And this one is no exception. Thanks for showing the result - and there is no such thing as too many photos of gems like this one.
Cheers

What can I say? Amazing........so much emotion in such a small and simple scene..........and with a "Mike Blank" fingerprint all over!!!:)

Another great achievement, congrats! Hope I will see this "live" in Euroma next September!

Looks like a photo from 1000 years ago. What character, what an atmosfhere; you perceive perfectly the "halo" of dirt and dust that they carry with them.
Little piece of art.
Ciao Federico

Superb work as always Mike and the colours are beautifully muted and so true to life and scale along with a totally realistic composition.

You set the bar so high for this hobby and your work (art) is a joy to look at and appreciate -thank you for sharing this with us!

Stunning conclusion to this story Mike. Love the subdued nature of the painting (Mike Blank hallmark) but totally in keeping with the theme of the story. Could look at this for hours and still see different tones/nuances of colour.

Dear Friends
A million thanks for you words and comments! :) I really appreciate them and it feels wonderful that I may give some of you guys inspiration, hopefully we will see some more vignettes from you guys here... !
I am the worst when it comes to do step by step and document my work :unsure: I am so involved in what I sculpt or paint, that I simply forget to take photos during the process... But I will try to do some sbs articles here... Soon!
