Does anyone know if there is a SBS on how to paint leather in oils, and getting that worn look, and cracks in the leather ..........

start with the brown that you see as the base. Marsbrown or something like that.
The highlight with naples yellow as athe worn out look. Paint the shades with burnt umber.
The cracks good be painted with small strokes off Sepia.

Dependant on the leather, I would base with sepia and a little black over an undercoat of sand for a cool or 'black' leather (still a very dark brown), sepia and burnt umber over a medium brown for warm/brown leather and burnt umber over a drab orangey brown for a tan brown. Shade with sepia/burnt umber/black and highlight with mars brown/mars orange/mars yellow/naples yellow accordingly. I usually add a dab of liquid to keep a slight sheen to material

No soldiers has ever been allowed to neglect his armour
Nor leather, nor metal . Dirty or blood tainted after a fight, yes but the day after was always cleaning time in all armies
