Hey Guys!

Thanks a lot! Im am much more pleased with this coat then the first one I did. I have rubbed it down with steel whool and its looking close to the real thing now, will show pictures soon.

Thanks for all the inspiration and feedback!

Hey Rob!

Yeah, I have been thinking the same thing, and I really dont want to use a wash...maybe I will cheat and use one for basic guidance. That time that sorrow, at the moment I am more worried how Im going to make the PPsH look like one

That ppsh would worry me too!

As for the painting of the coat, have you ever seen Calvin Tan's painting method?
Uses a black undercoat and drybrushes base colour on, then uses conventional washes and layering over that. All in acrylics. kind of acts like a guide.
His results speak for themselves!

Might be a way to to?

Anders,

As for the folds, I had done a few of these Russian dudes in 1/35 and know it's a pain-in-the-"B" to recreate them. I guess the only word is patience. Just turn the chore as something you enjoy ( or at least cheat yourself to believe in , well )

Hey Rob,

Yeah, Ive seen his artile on his US Tanker in Military Modeling, and it is indeed a very interesting technique. Im not sure that it is for me though as I am terrible at drybrushing.

Vince,

I hear ya! But this way it is made simple with good results. The padded jacket is one of my favourites as it is a blast to paint (Atleast it was in 1/35th scale, not sure about this scale), and its cool looking!

Anders,

It's much nicer with your second attempt! With all the prolific output, seems you are more " full time " with sculpting than I do One thing to watch out though, the front is open with the two front panels slight overlapping with buttons ( If I am not mistaken with my memory ).

Hey Vince!

Yes, you are correct! I will sculpt the flap and the buttons, as well as the collar after I get the basic coat done. Seams to be easier to do it that way.

As far as being full timer, I wish! Have classes to attend and chasing girls to do also

Hey Guys!

Thanks for the kind comments! I am glad that you are learning something Stephan, thats the purpose of these forums!

Here is the bust as he is looking now. I steel whooled the front so it wouldnt be so rough. I have to say it looks a lot better in person then on these pictures. The coat is almost done now! All I have left is front bottom, the flap, buttons and the collar!
