Hello!

I just joined up and wanted to drop by and say hello! My name is Chuck and I'm a Youth Minister from Arkansas in the USA and am married with kids.

When I was very young, I had many miniatures from the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings games - I remember one game very well called "Bree" and I had so much fun playing! I had the little die-cast metal and lead figures when I was young. Yes, there were some made from lead when I was young! haha I'm too old I guess. ;)

Basically, I told my wife I really wanted to rediscover the miniatures world and see what was available from the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings. I am hoping to get a large collection of Hobbit and LOtR miniatures and games going.

The only thing is I have NO desire to paint them - and would prefer to hire someone to do commission work painting the miniatures for me. With a wife, kids, and full time Youth Ministry job - I am exceedingly busy and just don't have the time to paint. I wish I did! haha So, hopefully you all can help me find some awesome painters!

Anyway, I am very excited to be here. I will need help getting started because we don't have a local "hobby shop" and most of my purchases will have to be online.

Well, thanks for having me and I can't wait to get to know you guys and more importantly, I want to see your photos of your collections! Be sure and share your Lord of the Rings and Hobbit miniatures photos with me!

God Bless, thanks for letting me join up!

Welcome here Chuck!
I hope you will enjoy the site.

One thing that I usually tend to say when I hear about people saying theyre to busy to have any time for the hobby, is that it is probably then when its most important to have a hobby and just a tad bit time for it. And I compare a painting session to meditating and relaxing even if it is only 15 minutes every second day.

Cheers

Hi Chuck,

Here's the site for the best (closest to Tolkien) Lotr and Hobbit figs:

http://www.mithril.ie/

A forum for those who collect (and paint) Mithril figs:

http://mmp.faerylands.net/

Games Workshop makes LOTR figs too, but they are based on the movies and the ones that stray from the movies aren't really true to Tolkien, so (for purists), some of them are pretty atrocious.

If you'd like to see some of my painted LOTR figs, just click on the VBench link in my sig. :)

Hi Wendy!

Thanks so much for the help! My wife says that I can ONLY do this hobby if I promise to never make her play! hahaha She loves Lord of the Rings, but doesn't want to play. haha

Anyway, I'll check out the links you gave me and I am very excited to be here! I can't wait to get my collection started!!!!
